Community Learning Center Schools

The New Standard in Education

Our Organization

Community Learning Center Schools (CLCS) is a non-profit organization founded to support and manage two of the Bay Area's most innovative and respected public charter schools:

CLCS supports both schools in realizing their mission, which is to empower all youth to take ownership of their educational experience, to celebrate their diverse community, and to actively participate as members in a democratic society.

Our Story

The story of CLC Schools began in the 1991-92 school year, when the Alameda Unified School District, in collaboration with accounting firm Arthur Andersen, held a series of community conferences to envision the future of public education.

This conference sought to break the mold of traditional education and create an innovative educational model that would provide students with the qualities and skills they would need to succeed in 21st century communities and workplaces.
