Meet the CLCS Board

Sandy Calloway 

Tony Steuer is the proud parent of an ACLC learner. Prior to joining the CLCS Board, he served on the ACLC Board and as Treasurer for the Creative Community Education Foundation (CCEF). Tony is an author, podcaster and financial preparedness advocate. He is the creator of the Get Ready Initiative which provides educational resources on insurance and financial preparedness along with best practices to connect consumers, financial services professionals and financial literacy advocates. Tony served as a long term member of the California Department of Insurance Curriculum Board. He is regularly featured in media including the New York Times, the Washington Post, Fast Company and others, and has appeared as a guest on shows like ABC’s Seven on Your Side.

Annett Pilz is the parent of two Nea learners. She appreciates CLC Schools' efforts to provide an alternative educational experience through various means, such as the project-based learning model which creates a dynamic, non-competitive learning community.

Annett loves being an active part of the CLCS community and takes pride in contributing to the overall management of the schools. Annett completed graduate school with a degree in business management and has since been working in finance and accounting in the United States and abroad. With more than 10 years of experience as a finance manager, Annett's financial expertise is a welcome addition to the Board.

Heather Dutton is a Math Facilitator and Math Department Lead at Nea’s Upper Village (grades 6-12). She regularly facilitates Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. She is also the Faculty Sponsor for the Nea Futbol Club (high school boys soccer).

Heather has been involved with Nea since its start, first as a math tutor and as a facilitator since 2013. She is passionate about building relationships that help learners grow their math skills and confidence. She is also passionate about developing empowering, differentiated, and rigorous math curriculum. She loves and is deeply committed to the Nea Community and all its learners.

Heather has a B.A. in Liberal Arts Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her teaching credential from National University. Prior to teaching, she had a career in college-level educational publishing starting as a sales representative and then working for almost a decade as a developmental editor. She edited textbooks in Psychology, Biology, and Earth Science. After her daughter was born, she worked from home as a private math tutor. She tutored at ACLC and served one term as a community member on the ACLC Governing Board.

Heather lives in Alameda with her partner, her daughter, one dog and one cat. Besides math, she loves art, reading, camping, hiking, music, yoga, and watching soccer--especially the Nea Futbol Club.

Robbie Wilson been an active member of the Alameda community for close to 20 years. For 16 of those years, even before having her own daughter, she has been an advocate for youth. Robbie believes that children are our future and that, given the right tools and opportunities, ALL children can flourish. As an Advocate for Children, she strives to be the voice of those who can sometimes seem voiceless.

As a former employee of the Alameda Unified School District, Robbie was proud to be the LEAPS After School Program Manager, which enabled her to connect with children and families from all across the island. While her daughter was a student at Ruby Bridges Elementary, she served on both the LCAP and School Site Council. She also started the Round Table “Black Achievers Alliance” which provides connection between the Black community and AUSD. Since enrolling her daughter at Nea, Robbie has continued to support families at all AUSD schools, because ultimately we are all the same community.

Robbie is currently the Music Facilitator for grades K-3 at Nea. She also works for the Alameda Point Collaborative Education Center as the Academic Parent Engagement Coordinator, where she has the honor to empower formerly unhoused youth and their families. She is thankful for the opportunity to be on the CLCS Board.

Annalisa Moore became the Executive Director of CLC Schools in July 2017, after having filled several leadership roles at Nea CLC since 2013. She is a dedicated educator with more than ten years of administrative experience and over three years in the classroom. She holds a Masters in Education, a multi-subject teaching credential, and a BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Youth Services and Administration.

When serving as a Grant Manager with the Alameda Unified School District, Annalisa managed a multi-million dollar budget, oversaw 78 staff, and provided intervention and after-school programs across four elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. Annalisa later joined The Academy of Alameda, a start-up charter school, as their Dean of Students in 2011. In this role, she shifted school culture through programmatic reforms that resulted in a significant decrease in disciplinary issues and improved academic performance ratings each year.

Annalisa believes deeply in CLCS's child-centered and project-based approach. As a 4th-generation educator, she has a passion for learning and understands what is needed to support learner success. She is eager to continue developing CLCS's innovative curriculum. Annalisa is also deeply committed the Alameda community and its youth. When she is not busy at work, you can find her at home with her husband and three children.

Dan Freedman loves this small community! He came all the way from a small town in Maine to teach at ACLC because he wanted to work in a place where he could know everyone. A graduate of the University of Maine, Dan works every day to share his passion for math and robotics with his learners. Since beginning at ACLC in 2017, he has enjoyed facilitating Physics, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. In 2018, he launched a brand new Computer Science course to help better prepare ACLC learners for 21st century careers. He is also oversees the Robotics team and Mathletes.
