GiFT Team (Grants, Fundraising and Donations)

Who We Are & What We Do

Formed in 2012, GiFT is a collaborative, volunteer-led team of parents who work closely with facilitators and learners to find, apply for, and secure grants, business donations and other related funding to help support all aspects of Nea. Anyone can join at any time.

What We've Done

As a result of our efforts over the past couple years, we have:

  • Won $1000 from the Altamont Education Advisory Board to purchase reusable dishes and flatware for the LV

  • Won $2000 from Target Corporation to support our art programs

  • Raised over $3000 with the Kaiser and National PTA-sponsored Fire Up Your Feet program: http://ca.fireupyourfeet.org/

  • Developed a database of corporate and community grant opportunities to apply for

  • Applied for a field trip grant from Target Corporation

  • Partnered with Nea’s Library team to help raise funds to support a new Nea library

  • Scheduled several grants submissions in the upcoming months for maths, science, music, and more

  • Recruited 15 parent volunteers to help at various levels of effort with research, writing, program planning, and facilitator outreach

Join Us! How You Can Help

The GiFT team welcomes anyone who can provide at least 30 minutes per week to:

  • Research the Web, local foundation resource centers, corporate donation programs and whatever else we may find to qualify opportunities for Nea

  • Collaborate with facilitators on program plans that will be requested for some grants applications

  • Write and edit any materials that we produce including Nea website content, grants applications, PTSA news and more

  • Develop Nea’s long-term strategy for grants and donations pursuits

You don’t have to be a grants expert and you don’t need a lot of time to commit to make a difference.
